The aim of the study was to study the polymorphism of the OPN gene (p.8514 C-T) in the population of Holstein cows of domestic breeding in the Republic of Tatarstan and its effect on economically significant traits. The longest dry period and the highest yield of calves per 100 cows were observed in individuals carrying the TT genotype of the OPN gene. The earliest age of the first fruitful insemination, the highest live weight, elongated service and interbody periods were observed in cows with the CC genotype of the OPN gene. In animals of this genotype, the highest percentage of milk yield was revealed - 8.9%, leading in the long term to high losses due to milk losses.
