Custom as a source of private international law

The article is devoted to custom in private international law. In accordance with the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, custom is formally recognized as a source of law, especially in civil law relations involving a foreign element. Attention is paid to international trade custom, which is used in the settlement of international disputes not only in trade, but also in the field of maritime transport. It is concluded that despite the development of private international law and the growing number of international treaties, custom continues to play an important role among the sources of private international law.
