Overview of ectoparasites of vertebrates in the Samara region

The faunistic overview of ectoparasites of vertebrate animals in the Samara Region is presented. In total, 89 species of ectoparasites belonging to 5 classes were registered in the region: Insecta - 34 species, Arachnida - 37, Clitellata - 5, Bivalvia - 3 and Crustacea - 10. For each parasites species the following traits are specified: systematic position, hosts, localization, host specificity, sites of findings, rates of invasion and geographical distribution. Mammals, in which 67 species are noted, have the most diverse ectoparasite fauna. 17 species of ectoparasites were found in fish. The least species of parasites were recorded for birds and amphibians in the region - 2 and 1 species, respectively. Species of ectoparasites are indicated with epidemiological and epizootological significance.
