The paper presents the results of an analysis of foreign ecopsychological studies of the subject’s representation of the anthropogenic environment of everyday life. Architectural, bio and social directions have been identified as global guidelines for research activity. Three relevant research vectors have been identified: the study of stress factors in the anthropogenic environment (low quality of residential and regional environment, spatial constraint, traffic congestion, etc.); study of the relaxation factors of the anthropogenic environment (the inclusion of the natural environment in the anthropogenic space); the study of the phenomenon of attachment to a place. The main psychological correlate of the influence of anthropogenic spatial environment is the well-being of the subject. There is a tendency of greater interest in the analysis of the relaxation factors of the anthropogenic environment, which is represented by differentiated comparative studies of the characteristics of the representation of various elements of the anthropogenic and natural environment. It is emphasized that such requirements for the organization of the anthropogenic environment as orientation to the needs of the subject; emphasis on those environmental resources that ensure the productivity of human activities; taking into account the features of the environment, on which the degree of control by the subject of this environment depends; fixing environmental resources that support communication and collaboration; the convenience of the environment in terms of its “navigation” capabilities are significant.
