Assessment of national parks activity by the local residents: the territorial aspect (by a case study of the Baikal region)

The study deals with the problem of assessing the activities of Federal State Budgetary Institution Zapovednoe Pribaikalye in the Baikal region by the local residents. The survey was carried out in eight key locations that are a cluster and located on the shore of Lake Baikal or in its immediate vicinity. The research presents the results of a sociological survey conducted in the spring of 2017 by lecturers and students of Sociology and Psychology Department in Irkutsk National Research Technical University with the support of the directorate and staff of Zapovednoe Pribaikalye. The findings may be used by the administration of the national park in order to improve its interaction with local residents and assess their activities in a positive manner. Recommendations for improving the efficiency of Zapovednoe Pribaikalye are provided.
