The assessment of decompression surgery effectiveness in treatment of severe brain trauma in children using the method of computer morphometry
Free access
The volume of brain and liquor spaces has been measured using the method of CT morphometry in the most acute period and in 40 days after it (after resorption of involvement foci) in 60 children with brain trauma of different degree. It has been established that the mass-effect of severe brain trauma can amount to 5-25% of initial brain volume. The use of aggressive surgical tactics for decompensated forms of acute craniocerebral disproportion has been substantiated.
