Evaluation of the efficiency of investments in the development of the power industry in the conditions of the wholesale market of electricity and capacity

The article is devoted to assessing the effectiveness of investments in the development of the electric power industry in terms of upgrading equipment and expanding the coverage area in the conditions of the current electricity and capacity market, taking into account the established order of interaction between market entities. Investing in the development of the electric power industry is considered in order to reduce the likelihood of accidents and technological disruptions in the networks, taking into account the risks of accidents (in monetary terms) and the investments necessary to prevent them, taking into account cost discounting and inflation expectations. Various approaches to the organization of investment and the source of their financing are considered in the conditions of the current organization of the electricity market in the Russian Federation. Examples are given of determining the effect of investment and the duration of the effect achieved to determine the payback period of investments. The possibilities of using tariff revenue and other items to finance investment development programs are considered. The description of the proposed way of development of interactions between market entities to improve the economic efficiency of the energy industry as a whole is given, the example demonstrates the attractiveness and profitability of investments in effective projects with a long-term positive impact on development. The conducted assessment allows to study in depth the positive and negative effects from an economic point of view for various types of investment projects. Additional ways of attracting investments are being considered, including from guaranteeing electricity suppliers, aimed at increasing the level of electricity consumption, which will speed up the process of recoupment of investments. The given approaches to assessing the effectiveness of investment show the relevance of this area of research, especially for regions with a high level of depreciation of the main network equipment and a high level of risk of emergency situations. The results obtained can be used by electric grid companies and guaranteeing suppliers in the course of separate or joint activities to improve the efficiency of organizations.
