The purpose of this study was to analyze the differential diagnosis of nodular breast lesions using B-mode ultrasound, compared with elastography, color flow mapping (CFM) and tomosynthesis (3D ABVS). The study involved 872 patients who underwent complete breasts examination on the basis of the State Organization "Russian Scientific Center of Roentgen Radiology" (RNCRR) of Russian Ministry of Health in the period 2013-2014. Possibilities and advantages of elastography, color flow mapping (CFM), ultrasound tomosynthesis (3D ABVS) compared with traditional breast ultrasound B-mode were assessed. It was found that elastography and color Doppler demonstrated significant advantages in specifying the diagnosis of focal breast pathology compared with ultrasound B-mode. The high efficiency of ultrasound breast tomosynthesis (Automated Breast Volume Scanning - ABVS), especially in dense fibrous tissue background was demonstrated. Sensitivity of 3D ABVS in the detection of breast cancer was 99.0%.
