Mental health assessment of children without parental care and living in the Trans-Baikal territory: information from clinical-epidemiological study

This paper presents an analysis of medical records, medical examination cards, and personal files, as well as data from a psychopathological and electroencephalographic examination of 214 pupils from five Centers for Helping Children without Parental Care and Living in the Trans-Baikal Territory. Objective: to conduct a clinical, epidemiological and psychopathological analysis of the state of mental health of children - pupils of the Children's Assistance Centers. Conclusion. According to the results of the study, the presence of extremely unfavorable micro- and macrosocial factors in orphans was revealed: parental alcoholism (90%), neglect (100%), low school performance (47%), behavior disorders (71%) and antidisciplinary actions (51%). In addition, unsatisfactory clinical indicators were found in this contingent of children: almost every second child had one or another psychiatric (71%) and neurological (68%) diagnoses.
