The paper evaluates the applicability of Recommendation ITU-R P.1546 for predicting signal loss in rural areas of the Kyrgyz Republic. Wave propagation models such as P.1546 are necessary to characterize radio signal propagation. They take into account various parameters including frequency, antenna height and environmental conditions to accurately predict path loss between a transmitter and a receiver. It is important to use accurate topographic data and take into account the morphological features of the terrain. Basic propagation models such as Okumura-Hata and extended Hata models are used for rural and suburban conditions. It is important to correctly consider antenna parameters and local conditions for accurate predictions. The P.1546 model, designed for tropospheric radio channels, covers terrestrial, maritime and mixed routes. It is based on empirical field strength curves that depend on distance, antenna height, frequency and time percentage. The analysis showed that the P.1546 model showed high accuracy in predicting signal loss in rural areas of the Kyrgyz Republic compared to traditional models such as Okumura-Hata. To further improve the accuracy, it is recommended to take into account local conditions and use additional land use data. The P.1546 model, despite its limitations, is an effective tool for predicting radio signal propagation in various conditions.
