The article analyzes the role of confrontation as an important investigative action in criminal proceedings. Its importance for resolving contradictions in the testimonies of the participants in the case and ensuring the objectivity of the investigation is considered. Confrontation is used by investigators to identify contradictions, analyze new data and clarify existing facts. The author emphasizes the importance of preparing for a confrontation, including planning questions and using technical means of recording. Psychological aspects are also considered, especially when conducting a confrontation with minor defendants. The article focuses on the need for neutrality of the investigator, as well as the importance of competent organization and application of tactical methods to achieve a fair and legal outcome of a criminal case.
