Environmental protection as a problem of national security

At the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, the problems of environmental protection have become particularly topical and have begun to alarm all of humankind. At the same time, there is a tendency to turn to the state, mentioning the state as the only force capable to settle the exacerbated environmental situation. At the same time, it is possible to solve the problem of environmental protection only based on joint efforts of the state and the whole society. The mechanism of legal impact on people's consciousness and behavior is directly related to the formation of legal consciousness corresponding to modern requirements; this legal consciousness should be oriented not only to the realization of human rights and freedoms, including the right to a favorable environment, but also to environmental friendliness, environmental protection, which is the main component of the national wealth of the people. Therefore, environmental protection is one of the priority areas for ensuring national security of the country.
