Secondary artistic convention occupies a significant place in the literature of postmodernism and is reproduced using unrealistic artistic means. One of these tools is a myth. Since most of Victor Pelevin’s works create a postmodern space based on the author’s transformation of the mythological vision of the world of various peoples (“Batman Apollo”, “Empire V”, “Transhumanism Inc.”, etc.), the author tends to depict a mythological secondary artistic convention. This article is devoted to the study of the occult and mythological secondary reality of the novel “The Invincible Sun”. Therefore, the purpose of the work is to explore the features of the artistic embodiment of occult and mythological components in the context of Pelevin’s work. The scientific novelty consists in the fact that for the first time the study of the “Invincible Sun” was undertaken as a syncretic secondary reality based on Shaivite, solar-mythological views. The article examines the specifics of the author’s understanding of the Mithraic cult and the mythical features of the god Mithras. The postmodern interpretation of the Shaivite myth in the context of mystical dance is investigated. The ideological and mythological originality of the cult of the “Invincible Sun” (“Sol Invictus”) as artistic model of the author’s vision of the world surrounding the characters is considered. It is concluded that occult-mythical components (black stone, dance, etc.) combine Shaivism and solar cults into a syncretic postmodern art space.
