The focus of the work is a fragment of the onomastic space of the Russian-Chinese border, texts of Chinese advertising signs in Russian, which are created in a kind of "Chinese Russian" language. The material is a detailed review of the theoretical provisions and empirical material of the monograph by Jiang Ying and E. A. Oglezneva "Advertising signs in Russian on the border with China: a linguistic aspect". Corresponding to the modern tendencies of Russian linguistics, in the center of which there is a complex, multifaceted research of linguistic material, the monograph contains an analysis of the modern advertising space, interesting from the point of view of linguistic embodiment and complicated from the point of view of the linguistic situation. The border with China is a region of active interethnic, intercultural and interlingual interaction with Russia, with a linguistic situation, which can be characterized as multicomponent, demographically "diverse", communicatively unbalanced, having disbalanced status. The monograph gives a scrupulous analysis of an eclectic text from the standpoint of graphic design, structural-grammatical and semantic models, the peculiarities of using parts of speech, functional charge and norms of text components. The authors compiled a sociolinguistic portrait of the average creator of shop signs, they give reasons for the occurrence of multilevel errors; numerous examples of interference, including intercultural interference, are presented and analyzed. The material may be of interest not only for linguists, but also for specialists in other areas of scientific knowledge as it affects, in addition to general linguistic, broader problems of language policy and issues of development of territories. The author's concept can become the basis for the study of ethnographically complex territories.
