In the article, the author examines operational search techniques and methods for detecting, suppressing and solving crimes related to illicit drug trafficking in the United States. The article considers operational search legislation and the main functions of US law enforcement agencies that fight drug crime. A brief comparative analysis of police tactics to counter drug trafficking in Russia and the United States is conducted.
