Description of translation stages and difficulties encountered in the process of translating a professional text

The paper describes the stages of translating a scientific article. The translated article is intended for a narrow circle of readers who are interested in the issues of London's transport provision and the policy on night-time transport operation. The pre-translation analysis of the article has been carried out, the translation tools have been described, the style and genre of this text have been determined. The difficulties encountered in the translation process have also been discussed. Solutions to the difficulties at different levels of language are given.
