We study the optimization problem aimed at searching the body geometry, which provides the most uniform distribution of stresses over the interface of various materials. Applications of this problem are related to the improvement of strength testing techniques for adhesive joints. The results obtained in the numerical analysis of the stress state of standard specimens are presented. It is shown how to improve the strength test procedures by changing the specimen geometry.
