Optimization of systematic approach to rehabilitation of patients with schizophrenia in the conditions of coercive treatment

Currently the totality of problems of committing the socially dangerous deeds by patients with schizophrenia is of significance, specifically concerning prevention of repeated offenses. Objective: to reduce affective tension caused by response to one’s own mental illness, to increase the level and quality of social functioning, to develop and support communication and social skills, and to recover working capacity. Material and Methods. The study involved male inpatients in the conditions of coercive treatment in a specialist unit of Yu.K. Erdman Altai Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital. Patients were diagnosed with schizophrenia according to the ICD-10 based on the corresponding clinical signs of the disease. Medico-psychological-social rehabilitation was carried out based on the developed original psychorehabilitation platform aimed at reducing the level of aggressiveness, using the technique of limiting meanings by D.A. Leontiev, biographical training by K.V. Karpinsky and transdramatic psychotherapy by A.E. Stroganov. The comparison group included patients with the same diagnosis, who committed offenses, but were not involved in the complex of rehabilitation activities. The level of aggressiveness was determined by the Buss-Durkee questionnaire of the level of aggression and hostility. Conclusion. The use of psychorehabilitation program including the Buss-Durkee questionnaire, biographical training by K.V. Karpinsky and transdramatic psychotherapy by A.E. Stroganov aimed at reducing the affective tension and aggressiveness, increasing the level and quality of social functioning, widening communication and social skills, strengthening identity by improving creativity and self-realization, increasing social adaptation, which will help prevent repeated socially dangerous deeds
