Our experience of the whole fibula use for filling of the distal tibia subtotal defects of different genesis

The work deals with the long-term results of treatment of patients with tibial subtotal defects by fibula tibialization using the Ilizarov fixator. The patients were divided into two groups according to their etiology. The formation of tibial defect as a consequence of osteomyelitic process was noted in six patients. The other six cases were congenital. The mean amount of the defect filling with the development of limb weight-bearing function was 91,28,8%. Positive results of treatment were achieved in all the cases.
