А comprehensive study of the practical experience in implementing and executing tourism projects based on the use of cultural heritage sites (CHS) in the context of regional tourism development. The paper systematizes and provides a detailed analysis of the theoretical aspects of using CHS in tourism activities: presents a modern classification of cultural heritage sites considering their typological diversity, substantiates the multifaceted significance of CHS for sustainable development of the tourism industry, and formulates the fundamental principles for integrating heritage sites into tourism products. The research relies on a comparative analysis of international and Russian practices in this field, which revealed the most effective organizational and economic models for implementing tourism projects involving CHS. The key problems constraining the full use of CHS in regional tourism are analyzed in detail, including regulatory, infrastructural, financial, and personnel aspects. Based on the conducted research, scientifically grounded practical recommendations are proposed for optimizing interaction models between heritage preservation institutions and the tourism industry at the regional level. Through comparative analysis of international and Russian projects, optimal models for incorporating heritage sites into tourism circulation have been identified. The novelty of the research lies in highlighting the main promising strategies for using CHS: technological integration (application of digital tools for heritage interpretation), cluster development (formation of thematic cultural routes), and creation of comprehensive souvenir programs. Key barriers to the effective use of CHS in regional tourism have been identified: insufficient funding and fragmented management approaches.
