Teaching Latin and the basics of medical terminology: introduction of novel Federal Standards in dentistry, preventive medicine, pharmacy

The paper highlights the issues of teaching Latin and the basics of medical terminology at the Department of Foreign Languages of Voronezh State Medical University in the context of implementing novel educational standards in Dentistry, Preventive Medicine and Pharmacy. The number of academic hours in these courses were largely reduced in 2021-2022. The author analyses students’ academic mid-term results in these courses compared to the previous 2020-2021 academic year. The paper focuses on the main problems related to the teaching of the discipline, and suggests ways to address them.
