The experience of microwave magnetic-resonance therapy use during canine leg lengthening experimentally
Free access
In the process of canine leg lengthening with the Ilizarov fixator and classic mode of distraction physical therapy sessions were conducted in an experimental group using a device for microwave magnetic-resonance therapy applied to the middle third of leg. Under electromagnetic radiation (EMR) a slight increase of the limb circumference was noted, which preserved practically throughout the experiment. In the other, control, group limb edema increased up to the end of distraction period, and in the period of fixation progressive atrophy of soft tissues was noted. The increase of numerical density of muscular fibers, that of numerical density of microvessels, considerable decrease of volumetric part of connective-tissue layers as well as more intensive intracellular physiological regeneration of muscular tissue was observed in the anterior tibial muscle of the experimental group.
