The experience of insulin infusion treatment of diabetes mellitus patients with acute myocardial infarction

The purpose of the study was to assess the efficacy and safety of insulin infusion protocol corresponding to current clinical guidelines for the correction of hyperglycemia in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in group of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). In prospective analysis were involved 31 patients, hospitalized with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and DM. Patients were divided in group of insulin infusion therapy and control group of conventional glucose lowering therapy. There were no differences in the clinical data of patients. The efficacy and safety of correction of hyperglycemia in AMI was significantly higher in insulin infusion protocol group. The causes of inefficiency of glucose lowering therapy in subacute stage of the disease were clarified.
