The article is devoted to the organization of independent work in a foreign language in the graduate school of a medical university. The article defines the concept of independent work, notes its necessity as one of the most important components of the planning structure of the educational process; the relevance of its content is emphasized, the basis of which is the research activity of graduate students (external students). The pedagogical conditions and methodological support for the organization of independent work of graduate students (external students) are described. Various educational technologies and forms of control of independent work are proposed to ensure the implementation of the goals of professional training in graduate school.
