In the history of Russian law enforcement agencies, the prosecutor's office has always been given special importance, which was manifested not only in the supervisory function of the prosecutor's office itself, but also in the fact that the prosecutor's office was the coordinating center for other law enforcement agencies in the implementation of their powers in the fight against crime and other offenses. The article focuses on the organizational and legal aspects of the activities of the prosecutor's office of the Soviet state after the end of the Great Patriotic War, covering the period from 1945 to the mid-1950s. The relevant legal acts regulating the status of the prosecutor's office, scientific publications on the stated issues are analyzed. It is noted that although formally the prosecutor's office had procedural independence, in fact prosecutors were largely dependent on the position of the party structures of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks)-CPSU.
