Avifauna of Sarpinsky island: taxonomic structure, habitat distribution, rare species

The article provides the analysis of the poorly studied avifauna of Sarpinsky Island located in the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain. As a result of field studies carried out in the territory of the island in 2012-2019, the species diversity of birds in various habitats was studied. For the first time, a list of bird species for this area is compiled (180 bird species are identified). The study analyzes the landscape and ecological structure of the avifauna and the related patterns of species distribution in the territory. Aclassification of birds staying in nature in the explored territory is formed and rare, protected, bird species (there are 26 such species) are identified.
