The main features of criminal policy in the field of digital crimes

The present article considers the current trends of criminal policy in the field of countering new types of information and telecommunication encroachments. The procedure of the legislator’s actions to establish criminal law prohibitions in the conditions of digitalization, the COVID-19 pandemic, the spread of artificial intelligence and electronic currency are analyzed. The author comes to the conclusion that digitalization and informatization of society do not carry a revolutionary uniqueness for criminal law and fits perfectly into the existing paradigms. At the same time, the effort for hyperdistribution and overconcretization of the criminal law under the influence of changing human life conditions leads to forgetting about abstraction as an integral property of the system of Soviet and post-Soviet criminal law.
