The main stages of historical and pedagogical research of social and cultural activity in Russia of the end of the XIX - beginning of the XXI century

In the article on the basis of retrospective historiographical analysis of social and cultural activity studies has revealed her story of understanding as a holistic process, in the understanding of which it is necessary to adhere to the general scientific methodology based on the principles of objectivity, consistency, historicism, etc. In the scientific development of the history of social and cultural activity in Russia the author distinguishes three stages: the accumulation of experience of historical and pedagogical research of out-of-school education in Russia (late XIX century - 1920th); formation and development of scientific historical knowledge about cultural and educational work (1920 - 1990th); formation of historiography of social and cultural activity as an independent direction of historical and pedagogical research (1991 -present). On the example of the largest historical and pedagogical publications the specificity of historical studies of each of these stages is highlighted, which is determined by the successive nature of large processes covering very long time periods (extracurricular education, political and educational work, cultural and educational work, social and cultural activity).
