Major lines of development for arts and crafts museums in the Moscow region

The article covers the major lines of the Moscow Region arts and crafts museum development, with the authors proceeding from the belief in the duality of the folk arts and crafts nature, which is both a powerful tourist resource and a significant tourist attractor, it being seen by tourists as a product and 38 научный журнал ВЕСТНИК АССОЦИАЦИИ ВУЗОВ ТУРИЗМА И СЕРВИСА Том 8. 2014 / №3 an image-building constituent of the destination. The authors hold that Moscow-region artisantry is unique due its relative abundance and the recognized brand. The authors come to a conclusion on the significance of folk arts and crafts for a sustainable regional/territorial development based on their job creation contribution; tourist offer promotion and tourist-oriented infrastructure development entailing creating new employment opportunities, souvenir production, tax liabilities etc. The authors insist that museum-initiated arts-and-crafts market-driven production be coordinated and further developed. In the article, the authors suggest creating a coordinating artisantry committee and provide a calculation of the performance targets of Moscow region tourism development with due regard to the progressive growth of folk arts and crafts.
