The main features of the formation of epigrammatic style in Russian literature

The article regards main trends of the epigrammatic style evolution in Russian literature of different historical periods. In this connection, a diachronic review of peculiar features and manifestations of this genre is made, with accentuating its genetic links with small folklore literary forms, such as: ditties, nursery rhymes, joke songs, proverbs, sayings, jokes and many others. Speaking about the importance of historic literary traditions in the formation of Russian epigrammatic style, as such, the author pays tribute to the doubtless originality and singularity of the so called «accusatory word» genre, which for a long time existed in parallel with various folklore forms. This is precisely what has created great possibilities for such a wide variability of peculiar and characteristic features of epigrammatic style in Russian literature. The results of large theoretical and practical material complex analysis carried out in the frame of given study give full grounds to assert that the best small epigrammatic genre traditions have found their reflection and worthy continuation in all historical epochs and have an indisputable prospect of further successful development at present and in future.
