Key Problems in Writing: Influencing Factors, Solutions and Methods of Development

The article analyses the problems of writing as a type of language activity and the ways of addressing them. It is noted that, under the conditions of global change, the demands placed on the education system, language policy and citizens’ language competence are increasing. It is shown that the work of the state institution “Kyrgyztest” makes it possible to comprehensively assess citizens’ productive (writing, speaking) and receptive (listening, reading) language activities, with particular attention being paid to the difficulties observed in the writing subtest. The author explains the insufficient development of written proficiency in the state language among citizens and students by psychological, cognitive, socio-cultural and technical factors, and points to causes related to educational practice. The article highlights the role of the teacher in teaching writing and proposes methodological techniques such as modelling text structure, teaching planning strategies, working within time limits, providing systematic feedback, gradually increasing task complexity, and supporting learners’ motivation and language competence. It is concluded that the development of written proficiency in the state language requires purposeful, systematic and step-by-step organised methodological work.
