The main trends in restricting constitutional rights of citizens to information on the internet: Russian legislation and practice

The article is devoted to the problem of restricting freedom of expression on the Internet in Russia. On the basis of a comparison between the Sino-Asian and American-European models for regulating the placement the information on the Internet, the author comes to the conclusion that Russia is gradually moving towards the mechanism for regulating the Internet initiated by China. The evidence includes the exponential increase in the number of out-of-court grounds for blocking Internet resources as well as the increase in the number of bodies authorized to decide on blocking resources and toughening sanctions (criminal and administrative) for placing particular information on the Internet.
