Machine technologies of production of potatoes and vegetables, technological operations on allocation of standard production from a field heap from combines which have received wide development in recent years, its laying on storage, the subsequent unloading from storages and preparation of production after storage to realization lead to considerable losses of the grown crop reaching in separate cases to 40 %. On the basis of the analysis of scientific works of well-known scientists-potato growers, test reports of MTS and other sources devoted to the assessment of damage of potatoes and vegetables on the working bodies of harvesting machines, it is concluded that up to 95 % of damage occurs at differences from one working body to another and when moving tubers on separating working bodies of machines. Proposed a number of measures for the development works to reduce damage to potatoes and vegetables in engine technologies, formulated the objectives and directions of research aimed to improving product quality.
