Volitional qualities in career choice of university students

The study discusses the problems faced by students when making a career choice and the impact of volitional qualities on this process. The students of an educational institution of St. Petersburg have been tested to identify the development status of their volitional qualities, in particular patience, perseverance, and willpower, and their effect on career choice. Survey results are interpreted based on volitional qualities of students who have chosen a career and have failed to do it. Students’ career choice is considered from a perspective of the volitional basis of their personality. The data proposed can be useful in designing curricula for both university lecturers and comprehensive school teachers.
