Features of the analysis of the world-modeling categories of a lyric work: the position of the subject

The main purpose of this article is to identify the problem of determining the position of the subject in lyrics and the way of subsequent analysis of the lyrical subject. Since the lyrical subject can be as close as possible to the author’s pole, researchers are faced with the question of distinguishing between the lyrical subject proper and the author of the work. Often, the existing tools are not enough to draw the line between the lyrical subject and the author. A way out of this situation is impossible without attracting other characteristics and building a methodology for analyzing a lyric work. Based on theoretical research by M.M. Bakhtin and S.N. Broitman, the article defines the main differences between the analysis of the hero in a lyrics and the analysis of the hero in literary works related to epos or drama, and formulates the stages of the analysis of the lyrical subject by analyzing the four world-modeling categories of a work of art: space, time, subject, event. As an example, the article analyzes the world-modeling categories of A.A. Blok’s poem “A girl sang in the church choir.”. Thanks to a full-fledged categorical analysis, the features of the lyrical subject within the framework of the selected poem are revealed, and the fundamental differences between the relationship between the subject and the author in lyrics and the relationship between the subject (hero) and the author in epos or drama were confirmed in practice: the incompleteness of the subject in lyrics opposes to completeness of the epic or dramatic character, and also requires the author to treat himself as a subject, not an object, because of which the nature of the relationship between the subject and the author in lyrics becomes more intimate and allows you to reveal the inner world of the subject as constantly developing.
