Features of author's reflection in prose by Valentin Rasputin

The article raises the question of the author, his location and position in the works by Valentin Rasputin. One of the «master keys» can be the identification of those metapieces in the writer's work that perform the task of maximum self-expression, the so-called self-reflection. The material of early books by Rasputin («Downstream, Upstream», «What Should I Tell the Crow?») and also his later works («In Bad Weath-er», «Wraith») allows to analyzes the act of creative reflection in which the autobiographical narrator can be on the threshold between the real world and the world of other being, on the border of life and death. The hero's creative essence helps him to take a glimpse into other side. These works are analyzed as manifestation of auto-fiction prose, which differs from both non-fiction and fictional prose.
