The paper deals with the term "hypotrophy (trophological failure)". Great emphasis is laid on the analysis of the association of body weight and metabolic disorders of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, the relationship between body size at birth and subsequent development of disease in adulthood. The systemic disorders of hypotrophy, such as parallel reduction of the muscular and fatty tissue, are particularly prominent. It becomes evident, that the problem of hypotrophy in patients with the connective tissue dysplasia is very important, because epidemiologically it reveals in all patients with differentiated connective tissue dysplasia and in 40% of the patients with the undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia.
