Features of Church Decorative and Applied Metal Art in Russia

This article examines artistic metalworking techniques in the context of ecclesiastical arts and crafts in Russia. The aim of the study is to systematize metalworking methods and identify their role in the creation of ecclesiastical art objects. This study summarizes both traditional (forging, chasing, and others) and modern (metalworking, inlaying) metalworking techniques, as well as decorative finishing methods. The analysis demonstrates that technological methods significantly influence the artistic expressiveness of religious objects. It is established that metalworking plays a key role in the creation of sacred objects, ensuring a harmonious combination of their functionality and symbolic meaning. It is demonstrated that this field not only preserves the continuity of traditional techniques but also opens up space for their creative reinterpretation in a contemporary context.
