Features of the functioning of interjections in the Chinese language

This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the functioning of interjections in modern Chinese. The study covers the theoretical foundations of the concept of "interjection", the lexical and semantic classification of Chinese interjections and their communicative and pragmatic functions in oral and written speech. The specificity of intonation and contextual features of Chinese interjections is revealed on the basis of corpora of spontaneous dialogues, Internet exchange and literary texts. A comparative typological analysis of Chinese interjections and similar phenomena in other languages is conducted. The results of the study can be applied in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, machine translation and development of natural speech recognition systems.
