The peculiarities of the hero and the plot in A. S. Griboyedov’s play «Woe from wit»

This article considers new principles of plotbuilding. They are indicative of the beginning of Russian national drama with its own new artistic anthropology. The dramatic hero turns out to be the personality not so much striving for determination of his destiny as, due to the formed life situation, realizing the role that was imposed on him with the circumstances rather than chosen on his own.
