Specific features and spheres of the functioning of professional jargon (based on English language material)

The article is devoted to uncovering the concept of professional jargon based on the example of the English language. The usage of this type of sub-language is limited to professional societies. Jargonisms would not be understood outside these limits. since in some cases the representatives of one professional society use jargon lexis to name a phenomenon which has no name in standard literary language. The article classifies jargon according to various production collectives (industrial workers, agricultral workers, medical workers, economists, lawyers, journalists, etc.) Emphasis is placed on the fact that due to the democratization of society the words of professional jargon enter official business speech. One of the important moments highlighted in the article is the creation of jargonisms with the help of metaphoric transfer.
