The characteristics of ethnic self-consciousness and ethnic identity of artificial bilinguals

The paper presents the results of the empirical study into specific features of ethnic self-consciousness and ethnic identity in respondents who are becoming artificial bilinguals. The research methods include questionnaire by Z.V. Sikevich and Types of Ethnic Identity Technique by G.U. Soldatova and S.V. Ryzhova. The findings obtained were processed with the help of the descriptive statistic methods and Mann-Whitney U-test. The author revealed the differences in the identifying sensations of the respondents, their resistance and clear ethnic self-identification. The research determined the characteristics of ethnic self-identification and the intensity types of ethnic identity. The study identifies that the ethnic differentiation of other people is of diverse relevance to the respondents and can be included in various processes of social cognition depending on the stage of becoming artificial bilinguals.
