Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is currently the leading method of surgical treatment of coronary heart disease (CHD). Evaluation of CABG efficiency including assessment of clinical, psychological, and social indicators contributes to improvement of clinical care, rehabilitation, and prophylactics programs in some understudied groups of patients such as postmenopausal women with CHD and CABG. Taking into account the current demographic situation in the Russian Federation, there is evidence of increasing demand for studies of this aspect of cardiac surgery. Objective of the study was to identify characteristics and evaluate quality of life of postmenopausal women with CHD undergoing CABG. Our data suggest that postmenopausal women with CHD require closer follow up with focus on psychological diagnosis, psychotherapeutic rehabilitation, and augmented pharmacological neuroprotection with nootropics during the first year after CABG.
