The objective of the paper is to study the characteristics of lipid metabolism and prevalence of dyslipide-mia in different age groups for both sexes in Barnaul. Materials and Methods. The authors analysed the indices of lipid metabolism, such as total cholesterol level, low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL), triglycerides (TG), and atherogenic index of plasma (AIP). Males and females of different age-groups (residents of Barnaul) were enrolled for the analyses. Results and Discussion. It was found out that both in males and females enrolled for analyses total cholesterol level and LDL cholesterol exceeded the norm. HDL cholesterol and TG complied with reference values. With age, blood levels of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol increased, so did AIP. TG content did not undergo any significant changes, and HDL cholesterol level tended to decrease. Biochemical blood test was used for classification of lipid disorders. Atherogenic dyslipidemia was detected in 69,9±2,2 % of cases; moreover, combined dyslipidemia was found in 17,2±1,8 %.
