The paper describes the interpersonal relations and role expectations of a person in marriage. The study reveals that men mostly tend to be self-oriented and prone to rivalry in the interpersonal relations. They are less dependent and wait for assistance and advice to a lesser extent than women. The research clarifies that men are characterized by less emphasis on the identification with their wives, higher claims on the educational functions of parents in a family. At the same time, women have higher expectations from men in role adequacy for extra-family activity, claims on the psychotherapeutic function of marriage and their own attractiveness. The authors elaborate on gender differences between the characteristics of interpersonal relationships and role expectations of a person in marriage.
