The paper proposes an analysis of the narrative in B.Akunin's novel «Leviathan». In the first part the free indirect discourse is being described as a form of narration that differs from the other narrative forms (the first person narrative, the third person narrative). In the second part the mechanism of overlapping the author’s and the character’s points of view is being analyzed, as well as the markers of the free indirect discourse - the egocentric words and constructions which separate one speaker from another.
