The purpose of our study is the early diagnosis of phosphorus-calcium metabolism disorders. There was a study of 30 children born prematurely. Of these, 20 are cases with very low body weight (VLBW) and 10 children with extremely low body weight (ELBW) at birth and in the 2nd month of life. The control group consisted of 20 newborns with a birth weight of 1960-2500 g and a gestational age of 34-36 weeks. According to our data, the phosphorus level is less than 1.7 mmol/l and/or increased alkaline phosphatase activity more than 800 U/l in serum blood should be considered as early biochemical markers of osteopenia in newborns with VLBW and ELBW. The identified biochemical changes provide the basis for further monitoring of phosphorus-calcium metabolism indicators, additional instrumental examination and correction.
