The article presents the results of the study of nonverbal communication of 7-10 year-old children with moderate and severe mental retardation. It identifies and describes the levels of the formedness of nonverbal communication means used by children in this category. The article proves significant differences between 7-10-year-old children with moderate and severe mental retardation in terms of the formedness of non-verbal communication means. The article also reveals a direct, close and highly significant correlation between the levels of the formedness of non-verbal communication means and the degree of mental retardation.
