Family matters are the basic theme of modern plays: family relationship, longing for home, the problem of family breakdown. This theme apparently has not lost its importance and relevance among young people. It means that eternal values and priorities have not been forgotten. It means that theatre appeals for sympathy and mercy whatever theme is brought up in plays by new authors: drug addiction, the superfluous man, loneliness, morality devaluation, urban culture, problems of existence, etc. Whatever historical period a person lives, they always feel lonely, vulnerable, sometimes miserable and, of course, mortal. Thanks to playwrights writing about it and stage managers talking about it through the roles performed by actors, the theatre will continue existing. Social aspects of life have stopped being something separate. For example, they do not define the genre of any play, but they have become one of the parts of many plays defining their genre and main themes. Conclusion: modern authors may not be always able to keep pace with life. Reflection in its artistic form takes some time, and every day we feel how the world is changing. The attempts of modern authors to describe and capture real world, its diversity, and different kinds of perception, which are difficult to admit, seem to be more meaningful.
