Features of general education in Yakutia: the dynamics of some indicators

The study deals with the development of school education in the republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the context of its accessibility or inaccessibility. The reforms taking place in this area, including those related to the education infrastructure in the context of demographic processes, are ambiguous. Based on the analysis of statistical information, official sources, the specifics of the development of the educational environment of the region in dynamics over several years are characterized. Most of the general education organizations are located in rural areas. In the period between 2000 and 2019, there was a decrease in the number of secondary educational institutions, while this process was uneven in relation to urban and rural settlements. Factors influencing the availability of education include intra-republican migration processes, a decrease in the number of general education organizations, the small number of schools in rural areas, and a high load on secondary educational institutions in cities. It is concluded that the availability or unavailability of school education is due to the place of residence of citizens.
